Single Dad Mark Johnson has found that his luck has definately turned. After losing his wife, Emma, in a car accident six years ago, Mark has been raising his teenage daughter, Jane, on his own. The win of over £3million has given him and his daughter what he called "A new lease of life!" He says, "Nothing will ever make up for the loss of Emma, certainly not money, but this will help us to celebrate life again." This small family intend to spend some of the money on a relaxing holiday but Mark says, "A lot of the money will go towards a future for my daughter."

Christmas Lights!

Christmas lights are going up all around the area. With such attention on these events, the Parish Council are now considering investing in village lights. Some residents welcome the new Christmas spirit but others disagree. Mary Matthews, a long standing resident of Sible Hedingham says, "This will only give more chances for vandalism in the village."

Dog Disaster?

After a soar in the amount of dog owners not cleaning up after their canine friends, the council are taking action! Community Dog Watch wardens are now being appointed as volunteers to trawl the footpaths around the village; an attempt to deter violation of the law.

The Braintree District Core Strategy of September 2011 aimed to bring regeneration to the Braintree area.
The growth in these ‘service villages’ is thought to help secure their continued sustainability. “The creation of a  new high quality environment , with a strong sense of place, providing a safe, attractive and enduring development , in character with the local area”, Braintree District council spokesman.

The proposed development site, encompassing the Rockways factory and the Premdor premises will provide more environmentally sustainable and affordable housing.  With renewable technologies and sustainable drainage, these new homes should be an asset to the village, meeting sustainable homes level 3.
By increasing available housing and consequently increasing custom, unemployment  should be reduced and local businesses will prosper.
The involvement of the grade II listed bank on Swan Street also promises to add to the aesthetic appearance of the village.
Despite concerns of its effects on the Hedingham Station Marsh Wildlife site, development plans continue to proceed, promising to be respectful of the site and ensure its long term protection.
However, prior to development, certain areas of the site require remediation, according to MLM Multidisciplinary Consulting Company.
Some concerns have also been raised about the effects of adding to the village’s current population.
Although it would bring more business to the area, services like the doctors surgeries will be under strain.
Proposals have been put forward for the opening of a new surgery on the site. However , this has not been included in the council’s ‘master plan’ as the primary care trust have stated that, ‘the provision of a new surgery has not been prioritised in our expenditure programme.’
